Competing in the largest annual Minnesota cross country meet, the St. Olaf women's cross country placed eighth out of 36 teams in the Division III race at the 23rd running of the Roy Griak Invitational.
The meet was held at the University of Minnesota's Les Bolstad Golf Course.

St. Olaf remained in the top 10 once again at the prestigious meet after placing fifth at last year's meet. The Oles came in fourth out of 10 MIAC schools at the meet, getting narrowly edged by rivals Carleton, St. Thomas and Bethel.

The race boasted several of the top schools from the Midwest, with second-ranked Wisconsin-Eau Claire winning the event with 110 points.

The individual race winner was UW-River Fall's Becca Jordahl with a time of 21:59.

Annie Knutson '09 was the Oles' top runner in the race, completing the 6K race with a time of 23:13, good for 11th overall. Her time put her at a pace of 6:13 per mile.

Teammate Jenna Carlson '09 was the next Ole to cross the finish line, trailing closely in 23:25, good for 19th overall.

Abby Smith '10 at 24:11, Michaela McLaughlin '10 at 24:19 and Nellie Adams '10 at 24:34 rounded out the scoring for the Oles. They placed 58th, 65th and 79th respectively.

Hannah Dennis '12 came in just two seconds behind Adams, finishing in 24:36, while Katie Duwell '09 also competed, clocking a time of 24:45.

The team travels to Wisconsin next weekend for the BluGold Meet. St. Olaf placed 11th at last year's meet. The race is hosted by Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The women's race begins at 4 p.m.
