NAME: Amie Fillmore ‘10
SPORT: Women’s track and field
HOMETOWN: White Bear Lake, Minn.
MAJORS: Spanish and English Language Learner Education
TOUGHEST CLASS: Spanish 314 – the teaching style didn’t jive with me and the books we read were kind of complicated.
LAST WEEK: Fillmore captured first place in the pole vault at The Qualifier, clearing a height of 3.72 meters.
WHY I CAME TO ST. OLAF: It was the only school that had great academic programs, a great track program and a great atmosphere combined in one.
GOALS FOR THE SEASON: Jump the automatic qualifying height, All-American at Nationals again, place well as a team at both indoor and outdoor conference
FAVORITE CAF FOOD: Peanut butter and milk – I just love milk and there are so many different varieties of peanut butter.
LOVE TO TRADE PLACES FOR A DAY WITH: Yelena Isinbayeva, the Russian pole vaulter who currently has the world record at 5.6 meters. That would be sweet.
SOMETHING PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOUR SPORT: It isn’t as dangerous as it looks – you just have to know the technique, concentrate and know how to bail if something does go amiss.
IF I WASN’T IN TRACK, I WOULD BE IN: Gymnastics – I was a gymnast since I was little until I graduated high school and miss it a lot.
THIS WEEK: St. Olaf competes at the MIAC Indoor Championships Thursday-Saturday, where Fillmore will attempt to defend her pole vaulting crown.
